Typically Drape Net rolls are 100m long, but for certain orders rolls can be made to suit.
The main colours which we supply are White(natural, transparent), Black and Grey. Depending on colour and construction, shading factors vary between 5% - 40%.
The net will last 10+ years depending on how well the net is looked after. The only things that will deteriorate the net is UV light, which the net has a high level of UV protectant incorporated in the manufacturing process to withstand harsh conditions, and secondly how the net is handled in the field. some of the very first Drape Net is still being used 20 years on.
If your rows are longer than 100m you can simply sew the next roll on in the field and continue, when you finish the row you just cut the net off and start with this roll on the next row (Sewing machines are also available). It is very quick and only needs to be done once, then the net will be the right length for the row for the following season.
You can hand thin and summer prune underneath the net. Just uncut zip ties and work underneath the net. Even platforms can operate underneath the net with small modifications.
As long as you are getting good penetration through the tree, you can actually get a better spray coverage with the net. When the spray pushes through the net it causes a tumbling effect, which gives a more even coverage. On the opposite side of the row the net helps keep the spray inside and helps reduce drift.
Sometimes the net does rub against the fruit causing a rub burn. This is rare and the number of fruit that are affected do not make a difference in pack-outs.
You can remove the net in the off season using a Net Wizz machine where you can store it under cover or leave it at the end of the rows, wrapped in a UV wrap. Alternatively, if you are using the Drape Net Bullhorn System you can roll the net up to the top wires where it can be stored. This makes it easy to drop down again when needed for the next season.
